Appalachian Trail Experiences 2019

BEGINNERS: Three Forks to Woody Gap:

Join us for a three-day/two-night backpacking adventure on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. We will guide you through the whole experience. We will hike about 16.5 miles in three days and you will experience two nights on the trail. We handle all of the planning and logistics. All you have to do is pack what is on our list that we provide you. You will need a backpack as you will carry your own gear.  This is great for those that want to test the waters as well as experienced hikers. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be able to carry your own gear (18 - 25 lbs.)

  • You must be able to hike 7 miles in one day

  • You must have your own backpack and gear

SECTION 1: Springer Mountain to Woody Gap - 21 miles

This is a two-day/one-night backpacking adventure on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. We will hike about twenty-one miles in two days and you will experience one night on the trail. We will begin our adventure at Woody Gap and shuttle to Springer Mountain, the beginning of the Appalachian Trail. After group photos around the famous plaque on top of Springer Mountain, we will continue on to Hawk Mountain Shelter where we will spend the night. On day two we will make the trek to Woody Gap.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be able to carry your own gear (15 - 20 lbs.)

  • You must be able to hike up to 12 miles in one day

  • You must have your own backpack, tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag

SECTION 2: Woody Gap to Dicks Creek Gap - forty-eight miles

This is a four-day/three-night backpacking adventure on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. We will hike about forty-eight miles in four days and you will experience three nights on the trail. We will begin our adventure at Woody Gap and shuttle to Dicks Creek Gap where we will begin our hike. Please note that the shuttle will take about one hour.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be able to carry your own gear (20 - 28 pounds)

  • You must be able to hike longer distances (8 to 15 miles) a few days in a row

  • You must have your own backpack, tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag

  • Food - we will provide a list of what to bring

SECTION 3: Dicks Creek Gap Georgia to Winding Stair Gap North Carolina - 40.2 miles

This is a 3 days/2 night backpacking adventure on the trail. We will start at Winding Stair Gap in North Carolina and make our way to Dicks Creek Gap in Georgia. This will finish up our Georgia section and start our North Carolina section. We will hike a total of 40.2 miles in three days.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be able to carry your own gear (20 - 28 pounds)

  • You must be able to hike longer distances (11 to 16 miles) a few days in a row

  • You must have your own backpack, tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag

  • Food - we will provide a list of what to bring

SECTION 4: Winding Stair Gap North Carolina to NOC North Carolina - 27.3 miles

This is a 3 day/2 night backpacking adventure on the trail. We will start at Winding Stair Gap and make our way Nantahala Outdoor Center. We will hike a total of 27.3 miles. The trail rating for this section is intermediate/difficult.. Elevation: 5,336 high/1,722 low.

REQUIREMENT:

  • You must be able to carry your own gear (15 - 20 pounds)

  • You must be able to hike longer distances in higher elevations

  • You must have your own backpack and gear

  • You must be able to hike on a trail that is rated intermediate/difficult


PINE MOUNTAIN TRAIL THRU-HIKEs 2019

Join us for our PMT thru-hikes. This is a great way to test your backpacking skills and train for a longer or more difficult trail. We handle all the logistics and will provide you a recommended packing list.

SLACKPACKING:

You will spend two day completing the 23-miles. Our first day will begin at the WJSP TV Tower and you will cover about 12 miles. We will provide support through out your hike with stations set up to refill your water. When you are finished hiking for the day we will shuttle you back to the campground where you can take a hot shower. Tents will be set up for you and pizza will be served for dinner. After a good nights sleep and breakfast, we will begin our second day of hiking to finish up. We handle all the logistics and will provide you a recommended packing list.

BACKCOUNTRY:

You will spend two days/one night completing the 23-miles of the Pine Mountain Trail. If you are new to backpacking this is a great trip to start with. We handle all the logistics and will provide you a recommended packing list.

If you are new to backpacking we will guide you and provide instructions. The event is for ladies only and is a small group event, so we have limited openings. You will need a backpack and your own gear for this trip. 

FOOLS HIKE:

You will tackle the whole 23 miles of the Pine Mountain Trail in one day. We will have support staff, water and snack stations, and shuttles available at road crossings. We want everyone to complete the whole trail but you are in charge of how far you hike. We have a proven process that makes it easier to cross that mile 23 marker.

Appalachian Trail Adventures

Solo Support:

If you are looking to do a solo hike but would feel safer having a support team then we are your crew. We help you with the planning and logistics as well as offer recommendations for gear. We will carry your extra clothing, food, and gear that can be picked up at any road crossing. There’s no greater reward than a cold drink from the cooler or a hot drink when it’s cold. We will track you and be there along the way.

Group Support:

Don’t need a trail guide but would like to have a support team then we are what you need. We will travel along and see you at each road crossing where we will have cold and warm drinks for you. We can also carry your extra gear and food. Experience the wilderness with the security of a support team that can address any first aid issues or give guidance.

Group Trail Guide:

Whether it’s a family trip or a girls weekend away let us guide you . We can help you plan a trip that meets your groups physical abilities and skills. Your personal guide will be there to lead the way, address any first aid issues, provide guidance and support.
