Pine Mountain Trail Adventure
The Pine Mountain Trail is 23 miles nestled in the F.D. Roosevelt State Park. The trail is well marked and the Pine Mountain Trail Association does a great job of up keeping the trail. I was concerned about water due to the drought we are in, but there was ample water sources available. The forest floor was covered in red leaves, which made for a beautiful hike. My favorite new spot was near Beach Bottom campsite located just to the east of the mile 9 marker. The only downside to the hike, was not being able to have a fire. There is currently a fire ban due to the severe drought we are in. I highly recommend taking 2 or 3 days to hike this trail.
The group did a great job! The first 12 miles ended with feelings of accomplishment, sore muscles, and relaxing around camp. One of the ladies used her phone to provide us the visual and sound effects of a fire since we couldn't build one. After some great conversation, stuffing our faces with food, and game night, we all retired to our tents for a great nights sleep.
