Iron Braid Snapshot Summer 2018

We will be closing out our summer activities and getting ready for some Fall fun. We wanted to share some of our memories over the summer. We still have a few events for September coming up and we hope you will join us. I've had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing women and made some great friends. Thank you all for sharing time with us over the summer. 

Iron Braid 23-Miler

Some brave and tough ladies took on the whole 23 miles of the Pine Mountain Trail in one day. It was a great experience to observe them pushing through their limits and succeeding. They worked as a team supporting and encouraging each other. I was the support person and every three to five miles they would see my smiling mug with snacks and cold water. They all did great!

Pine Mountain Trail Thru-Hike

The ladies spent two nights/three days thru-hiking the Pine Mountain Trail. Due to a storm threat, we had to make some adjustments and the temperature was very hot and humid. Other than that we had fun and made memories. Our last night camping we heard a fox screaming in the woods and we woke to a beautiful sunrise. 

Iron Braid Secret Mission Race

These ladies were quick at getting their clues and fast at moving from one end of the campground to the other. The teams did great and had fun. After the race we enjoyed a hike then joined the Park Rangers to learn about reptiles in the park and play some bingo. We then stuffed our faces with salad and pizza for dinner. Unfortunately, the storms rolled in and flooded out the rest of our evening.

Hike & Yoga

We enjoyed a hike on the Mountain Creek Nature Trail at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park. After the hike we relaxed our bodies with some yoga. It was great to see both familiar and new faces.

New Hike Fit Series Schedule

Our first series will run through September and on October 14th we will begin series II. There is no cost to join us and it's a great work out. 

Our first series will begin with a four-mile hike and four stations where you will complete exercises in an allotted time. At the halfway point we will have cold water available for refills.

Series I

  • September 9
  • September 23

Group Hikes

September 8th we will join the PMTA on their group hikeMeet at the Rocky Point parking lot. They will hike the PMT to Dowdell Knob. This hike will be 3.4 moderate miles.
