November brings with it a time when we give thanks and gather with family and friends. Turkey, pies and football fill our homes as we spend time with those we love. We want to take the time to thank all of you for filling our lives with new friendships and memories. We wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.

As we fill our bellies with delicious food and give thanks, grab your families and spend some time outdoors together.

Family Football Game

Start a friendly football game for the whole family outdoors. Make a Family Football Thanksgiving Championship trophy, which can become the coveted prize during this tradition for years to come!

Outdoor Scavenger Hunt

Get the family together and make teams for an organized scavenger hunt either in the backyard or throughout the neighborhood. Offer prizes like small gift cards or special treats to inspire some friendly competition.


Fall Wine & Cheese Camp Out - November 10 -11

What's better than spending the evening with friends relaxing around the campfire while sipping some wine and enjoying the crisp fall weather. We will relax around the campfire enjoying some wine and cheese while having great conversations and sharing many laughs. Delicious pizza will be served for dinner. We will enjoy a night stroll under the stars then return to our campsite for must have S'mores and hot drinks. Your cozy tents will be waiting for you when you are ready to get a good nights sleep in the cool crisp air. After a light breakfast and hot coffee, we will set out for a short hike before our fun comes to an end. Don’t worry if it’s a little cold at night, we will have tent heaters for you.

Veterans Day Group Hike - November 11th

Join us to celebrate our Veterans on our group hike and help us raise money for Warrior Expeditions. 

In 1948, Earl Shaffer told a friend he was going to "walk off the war" to work out the sights, sounds, and losses of World War II. Four months later, Earl Shaffer became the first person to hike the entire length of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.

Following in Earl Shaffer's footsteps and in recognizing the therapeutic effects of long-distance outdoor expeditions, Warrior Expeditions created the Warrior Hike, Warrior Bike, and Warrior Paddle programs which are designed to help veterans transition from their wartime experiences.


We will meet at the parking lot across from the Callaway Country Store and hike about four miles to the Park Office where we will enjoy a cup of hot chocolate before we shuttle you back to your vehicle. Please bring exact amount to place in the donation jar. There is no parking fee to park in this lot.

Hike Fit Series II - November 18th & 25th

Join us for our hike fit series! Series II will involve short distance running, hiking, and four stations where you will complete exercises in an allotted time. At the halfway point we will have cold water available for refills.

There are ways to make this easier or harder. You can complete exercises with or without a pack and carry as much weight in your pack as you are comfortable with. You can complete one round at each station or complete as many as you can in the allotted time. 

For Series II, we will meet at the Trading Post store in the campground. You will need to purchase a parking pass.

Adventure Skills Day Classes - November 17th

Join us for our skills day where you will learn backpacking basics, trail safety, wilderness survival, and map & compass basics. You will leave feeling empowered and ready to explore. 

Get ready to start checking things off your bucket list. There are so many beautiful and exciting places to explore. Do you dream of exploring our wild places but you don't have confidence that you can do it safely. Well, you will learn all the basic skills you need to get started.

You will spend the day learning skills while having fun. We believe in hands-on learning so you will have a chance to practice the skills you learn. We will take a break and lunch will be provided.

  • 11:00 - 12:00 Wilderness Survival
